WEEKLY UPDATE May 11 - 17

The weather seems to have calmed, making way for blue skies and sunlight again. Temperatures will slowly rise over the week, stopping at around 80ºF/27ºC for the weekend.

No rain is expected this week, and winds remain as a simple breeze.

flora

The dandelions are popping up everywhere, overshadowing all other plants. A few early mushrooms are also sticking up their tiny caps on the south side of the tree, but they are the inedible kind and will cause a stomach ache if eaten.

fauna

With the birds daring to sing again, rabbits are coming to visit once more, lured in by the abundant dandelion leaves. One of these rabbits seem interested in digging a burrow by the tree, but will be scared away as soon as she sees any of the tree dwellers... but she'll come back a few hours later.

On Thursday, a snake come slithering in from beyond the mist. It's a European Viper, and will see the adventurers as lunch if disturbed.

• The mysterious man and his odd music has disappeared, making room for bird song and silent nights again. His disappearance has left a mark, however - near one side of the tree's mist boundary, a small stream (10 inches across) flows briefly to the reachable side of the mist before disappearing out again. It's a another good source of fresh, clean water - and items put in the stream will be taken by the small current and brought outside the mist. (This does NOT include characters.)

• A crack in the mirror has shattered the side quest, and the backlash flows over the tree. Failing the gift of fire, all fires are extinguished and cannot be relit, and where Eren's fire used to be is now a huge, pulsing firefly, too fat to move and hot enough to burn when touched. Like all fireflies and glow worms, characters can use it to fry, boil and cook!

Hm… without being able to acquire more charcoal, magical ink and/or inkwells would be really valuable. If Pitch could supply that, some Adventurers would be willing to pay for it. (And Orcelito could negotiate the price and keep track of supply and demand.)

Tricky part is, I don’t know if there are any storyteller characters in the game right now. Most of the Adventurers want to use the ink for practical purposes, like research and records.

If your character can write fiction, please chime in! I’m open to pursuing this and striking a deal if another character can create stories for payment!

Well, Owain writes fiction, but I highly doubt it's anything Pitch would be interested in. Unless he wants to hear all about the glorious heroics of the Enigma King or Owain Dark, Avenging Avenger of Justice. >_>

Sliiiding in here because that's right up Sarah's alley! What is pragmatic. She is a one-girl fairy tale spinning machine. In canon, she usually does it aloud as a flight of fancy, but I think it's no stretch for her to get it down on paper (and it would technically be a canon adult occupation for her if I counted the godawful manga).

I kinda love the idea of her wracking her brain for the spookiest something she can think of, too. For her, Nightmare on Elm Street and Carpenter's The Thing just came out-- and while she was probably more jazzed about Gremlins, she'd totally stick those tropes in a blender with her Labyrinth traumas and come up with some 80s horror tall tale.

Oh yes, that sounds perfect! We should arrange for our characters to meet at some point (Sarah could always drop by on the paper-making thread if you don't mind backdating?). Meanwhile, I'll see if Orcelito can get Pitch to make the offer in the first place on their current thread. (Or, alternatively, Sarah could meet Pitch and he can make the offer to her specifically?)

Ideas? I'd like to make this work ICly for everyone.

Ohmigosh Nightmare on Elm Street is kind of a well-known story, but that kind of thing would be right up Ptch's alley. I am all for the 80's horror tall tale \8D/

So yeah, if she managed to come up with something suitably spooky I think an ink well that never ran out of ink might work? idk what ya'll need

Awesome. And haha, Sarah will use totally well known stories to see if she'll get caught cheating, and then just... add goblins.

I was gonna tag into Pitch's current entry as soon as I confirmed that she's staying with Yuuya ICly/OOCly, because I think she'd be intrigued by his whole deal (as long as you don't kidnap babies, you can't be THAT bad), so we can see where it goes from there!

And I'll let y'all work out the details of the bargain, just know Sarah's up for flexing her storytelling prowess (and showing off to sympathetic villains is kind of her thing).

Ew no. Don't much like mortals and babies smell funny 8| Just don't bring up parenthood, having parents, or being a daddy. The last is a surefire way to upset/ make Pitch angry.

Also he is not too keen on outright plagiarism :\ But if Sarah wrote down a story about what had happened to her in the Labyrinth and was convincingly scary at the parts where she was legitimately scared, that would be just the ticket ;D

One endless inkwell would be great – we could use it to refill ordinary ones.

So now I just need to find some normal inkwells to spread around… I’m thinking one for each house? Korra might be able to make those if we get more metal from Chime’s shop.
