The pleasant weather is gone. From Tuesday to Wednesday night, a storm will hit the tree. Rain, thunder and lightning will mix with horribly strong winds that could blow a tiny fairy into something hard. It's best to stay inside and batten down the hatches!
As the weekend rolls around, the weather will be milder, but still very gray and cloudy. Temperature will be low but not freezing, and the wind will have died down again.

The storm will blow away the pink daffodil and all its glittery powder, together with some of the other plants as well.
Afterwards, dandelions will be sprouting up around the tree, replacing some of the older crocus, coltsfoot and snowdrops.
fauna
The storm will also scare away the animals, and the mounts will huddle inside, refusing to go out. It is not until the storm ends that animals will be appearing again, mostly finches, squirrels and a vole or two.

On Thursday, the violin music will finally let up for a while. However, for the rest of the week a human shape can be seen on the other side of the mist, holding a violin. He will even come close enough to touch the mist, and all those that are attracted to men will see their physically ideal man - not a specific person, but the most attractive man they can imagine.
Those not attracted to men? He's not as pretty, looking very wet and... dead. Good luck explaining that to your friends, however.

Oh my question is if the magic can be sensed rather than figure out by logic first. Using an example, in Fate/Zero, this guy has a magic mole that charms women (making them fall for him, regardless if they are attracted to men or not, it's a charm spell). But some women who have high resistance to magic (making the charm useless) or are magus could tell it's magically-induced because they sense the enchantment.
It's perfectly fine if it cannot be sensed. I'm asking to be sure.
In Arturia's case right now, could be that she literally sees the ideal man (ideals man). As in male version of herself in a canon AU. My reasoning is that she'll be attracted to ideals (and cooking skills, which brings me to ask: would she be able to smell fresh baked bread around him, for instance? Or is it just her sight that is affected?) and since sexual or romantic preferences are not yet playing any role in her life, she would be spiritually attracted to ideals and the one who embodies ideals in her world is King Arthur's legend. So this is the closest to the most perfect man they could imagine: the ruler she would have strove to be (although she wouldn't realize the exact nature of the fantasy)?
It'll be an attraction based on admiration and idealization rather than sexual interest or romance, of the soul, but she will likely recognize the spell very soon, and be suspicious and cautious.
It's unfortunately visual only, and only a sexually/physically attractive image. If she's not able to feel such thing, then she would probably see the corpse instead.
Saber did fall in love with Shirou in Fate route (in the UBW route where she is from, however this is the statement of the author), but "it isn't a relationship fueled by instinct like the relationship between a man and a woman, but a romance of logic between two people who need each other from the heart." She didn't fall for his looks or thought him attractive from a physicality standpoint, but it was a pull of the soul and heart (it would have still happened if the other person was a woman or a blob-shaped inorganic sentient form). Even if they had romance and ended up doing romantic things that wasn't the trigger for it, the reason why she found him attractive had nothing to do with his gender (and was only able to experience this after he persisted she was human, something she does not think she is), but what they were trying to do for her sake. I want her affected, because she can be attracted to men, but... it's closer to say she's attracted to people who sometimes happen to be male? I can't figure out how to go with this if it's just the appearance, because Saber won't have an image of the perfect man attractive in a sexual/romantic way as she now. You're probably right and she'll see the gross form. :/

On the off chance that this comes an issue, I know it's irresistible, but what if another character has mind control abilities? It's considered a magic technique in his canon and can be blocked by things that repel magic. Would that stand against the guy's pull/magic at all?
Or if they could try putting the real image of this guy in their minds?

It wouldn't be possible to repel the magic, but they could try to put a real image of the violinist in another person's mind. The magic is very strong, however, and may just make the person affected angry at the mind controller instead.
Chime's Shop is only open on random days for 24 hours, so that was either a mixup or bad wording from our part.

My question involves violin man! Because clearly, Vala is...sort of interested in men. About as much as you can be when you're old and have pretty much accepted being eternally single. However her ideal man is clearly not human. Which makes me wonder, between the whole supposed to be spiritual bit she's working on and her being alien, would she still see a man?
In that vein, considering that if she hears anyone else remark it will clearly hit her that she's wrong in some capacity. Would that have any effect or not?
So um... maybe dumb question, but... Is the violin man visible before the music stops, after the music stops, or just every day except Thursday? I'm not quite sure and I want to know before I make a related post for Kit.
Quests. There has been discussion about them. Her stance is that they don't need to solve anything to aggravate whoever brought them and lure them out. But she will help and assist if the majority prefers to solve things.
Archer, Shirou, and Rin are going to be working to put together a miniature kitchen near the mist, where real fire can be made.
They'll start by digging (well, part digging, part blasting) a hollow into the ground to shelter fire and cooking materials, then constructing a small building around it (with a smokehole in the top) out of sticks, pebbles, raised earth, and interwoven leaves to protect the fire and cooking equipment from rain and wind. Then Shirou and Archer will team up to project some simple machinery (a few pieces each day for a few days): a large oil press to make cooking oil out of seeds and nuts (large because the seeds and nuts are large at this scale), a grill to put over the fire, pots and pans, racks to dry herbs on, and a set of cooking knives. Rin will then help out by using magecraft to help shape the earth around the hollow, automate the oil press, and cast protective spells around the kitchen to keep idiots from getting hurt while cooking.
They'll start work late Monday or early Tuesday but be interrupted by the storm, which they'll then spend discussing how to make a teeny tiny building stormproof. The actual building will take place over the course of the rest of the week after the storm--Archer and Shirou are physically strong and Rin has useful magic, but it's still an undertaking.
I'd like to put up a log for this sometime late tonight or tomorrow, covering the various stages of the building and allowing other people to pop in, see what's going on, and maybe help. If anyone has any suggestions or questions, though, fire away here.
Oh, last weekly update told us that anise and thyme are growing around the Tree. Since those make good spices, someone should harvest them before the storm hits! (Might as well grab the chickweed too.)
Fuu has been collecting the thyme (since Saber confirmed it) and the chickweed (since she recognizes it herself). So she's got some, you know, giant fragrant leaves hanging up around her house to dry, but she'll happily share them out / help other people collect them. Five-foot swords are good for chopping things down
As much as Archer irritates the shit out of Eren, he will be happy to help build this. He has the fun ability to turn into a 15 inch giant, so moving large rocks and sticks won't be an issue. He's all about really cooking food, man.
I'm still in finals hell, but I can tag in this weekend.
Back from hiatus properly now, so today I'll be putting up a log of Yoshitsugu swaying to that music and doing exactly nothing to resist it (when your lifestyle consists of going with the flow this kind of thing will happen, cry). So, yeah, he'll be affected. That also means that somewhere, somehow, come Thursday he'll have some, erm, interesting commentry to make on the matter.
Also, after today, his incredibly weak constitution means that this weather combined with getting wet a bit much will lay him out sick; mostly relevant to the roommates, that. It won't be anything too severe but it'll take him a while to get over it.
Thanks to some generous volunteers, there was a nice batch of wood paste to be strained and laid out to dry yesterday. Orcelito checked on the results today. But alas, the papers are rather brittle and rough! The prototypes will be re-mashed and a new, improved batch created. He’ll let everyone know when it’s ready.
Meanwhile, he flew out to investigate Eren’s fire. It has not burned in its’ contained environment long enough to produce charcoal, so it’ll be a couple more days until proper ink is made.
And everybody should thank Riona; she figured out how to make a writing quill! Orcelito is currently working on the design and trimming a few more. He should have a decent batch ready by the end of this week.
In the meantime, the dyes on his kitchen counter are drying out. So Orcelito will be looking for things to use as inkwells.

Chiming in to say that Riona will continue helping Orcelito with making wooden pens. She's getting very good at the quills too! So between the two of them, there will be plenty to distribute.
I think I'll do something this week with Yuuki going out to try and dance to the music, if the compulsion to dance is enough to overcome the fact that it's a storm out there. If someone wants to find her attempting to brave the weather and drag her back inside, feel free to! Likewise, she'll be one of the individuals affected and thinking that he looks like an incredibly beautiful man.
Outside of that, I don't have much planned for either her or Kija. But if anyone wants them for something, I'm always up for plotting!

Because she's a mature adult with clearly mature adult relationships.
Other then that she's free for whatever. She might occasionally try to run around some of the lower levels or try to get into the hollowed out parts of the tree near the base. Which she will take anyone with her if she wants. One also might want to come catch her doing some shaman related things. Temporarily shifting the earth or creating a few gusts of wind. Some of her traveling might involve using her ghost wolf spell or waterwalking if need be. Pretty much she's open for anything one might need a big old spacegoat for.
He's probably going to be just poking around, unless someone has any ideas.
Though he might have to come out after Thursday if things get too hectic but he can't do much but show people what the guy looks like. Or restrain a character temporarily. If he can be convinced it's worth doing. (if it comes to that, I may be jumping the gun here, lol.)
I know some of us (Orcelito, Kit, and Yuuki) have proposed forming a group by the Lifestream and randomly holding hands to try and solve the riddle. XD Anyone still interested in trying this?
Saber will suggest them to wait until Marisa (if she's given mod permission) makes that alarm system around the tree perimeter and they organize the defense. Jumping into the quest without knowing what could happen seems shortsighted in her opinion (which she has brought in the gathering in the Hakuryuu quest thread).

Sounds good. I was also thinking we should organize a fighting force on Lv. 6 to be ready if/when the crystals disappeared. There are already many strong fighters on that floor, so it should be easy to coordinate.
Yes, they discussed the matter of strategical use of space (and housing but that was a point Saber was concerned about) here. Since she stays on lv. 6 too... She was only missing meeting Orcelito from her neighbours. Link proposed to have a guard camping site set at the entrance in the same thread!
Either way, when they do their quest solving, she would be guarding quest group and pay (at this moment) special attention to the fog and the music (which was also brought up in the discussion: potential omens for trouble).
