After your have gained your wings, you are met by a feast on the second floor with all that the forest can offer you. Tables and chairs are set up everywhere along the walkway between the houses, allowing the new visitors to meet and greet - or try to hide in the corners and eat berries all by themselves. Try your new wings to be the first to grab those delicious crumbs of walnut bread? Or say hi to your party lights, courtesy of some excited glow worms and flies that just want to be your best friends. Explore how your new gem works, try put your leaf clothes or decide to head further into the tree, seeing just what kind of place your have stumbled into. Maybe you will even get a glimpse of those hairy legs on the fourth floor?

He sloshed water over his back. In small amounts water rolled off his feathers, he had to work to get good and soaked. "Japan, actually! I'm also partially French. And yourself? 'Kyle' certainly sounds Western."

"Never heard of either of those," said Kyle, scrubbing lightly at his skin even though he really hadn't had much chance to build up a lot of road dust.

"I'm from the Queendom of Falena. Grew up in Lelcar. I'd say that's more south than west, though."

"We are mutually non-comprehending, then! Haha." Yuuya kept an eye open for soap. It was so hard to wash out of feathers that he was just going to bail if some showed up. "I like your armor, by the way. It's very handsome."

"Thanks. They gave it to me when I joined the Knights, and I like to think I've taken pretty good care of it. At least I don't go charging into dangerous situations as much as Georg does."

Kyle was actually pretty proud to have served, though he thought that maybe once things had quieted down, he might search for a nice, quiet place to retire. "You said you were a Dove? I've never heard of that tribe."

"Not a tribe! Species. I'm a dove or a pigeon, specifically a fantail pigeon." Well, and he's a member of a political organization called the Dove Party, too, but he suspects that won't mean anything here. "Are these Knights your tribe, then?"

Hmm, so more like the dwarves, maybe.

"Nah, they're an organization. You know what a royal guard is? That's basically what we are. Our loyalty is to the Queen of Falena."

"Of this Queendom. That's a fascinating word! Kind of makes sense. 'Kingdom' is such a common word, I don't really think of what it means."

He has probably wallowed enough. Yuuya comes out of the water and stands on the edge, dripping and preening to squeeze some out of his feathers.

"Well, it's just like it sounds," said Kyle. He was too lazy to get out of the bath just yet; instead, he leaned against the side of the 'tub', letting his hair drape itself over his shoulders.

"It's ruled only by the female members of the Falenan royal family. That means princes get married off to noble families. Most of the time, anyway."

"That's a neat reversal of how the humans I know tended to work, once." These days of course humans are too rare and penned in by restrictions to have much government. Strange, to think he's surrounded by humans used to ruling themselves. "Whatever works, huh?"

Still dripping, Yuuya eyes Kyle. "I hope they have... what do you call them? Coumes? For your hair."
