Welcome to the Faerie Feast!
After your have gained your wings, you are met by a feast on the second floor with all that the forest can offer you. Tables and chairs are set up everywhere along the walkway between the houses, allowing the new visitors to meet and greet - or try to hide in the corners and eat berries all by themselves.
Try your new wings to be the first to grab those delicious crumbs of walnut bread? Or say hi to your party lights, courtesy of some excited glow worms and flies that just want to be your best friends.
Explore how your new gem works, try put your leaf clothes or decide to head further into the tree, seeing just what kind of place your have stumbled into. Maybe you will even get a glimpse of those hairy legs on the fourth floor?
[ He's straightened his uniform and dusted most of the ice and slush off it as well as his boots, though he can't seem to do anything about the dirt, or the large pair of mothlike wings that extend from his back. All things considered, it could be worse. He could be - probably is - dead. ]
[Kuvira looks vaguely medieval, but not from any particular time period. Helmet, breastplate, pauldrons, vambraces and rerebraces, the cable spool on either hip, and her boots seem to be metal too. There may be more armor under her clothing. Even if there isn't, there is probably more metal on here than in the whole rest of the tree combined.
She sizes the man up. He seems pretty out of it, and his outfit and features are completely new to her.]
No regiments, I'm not with the army. And yourself?
107th Infantry Division, US Army. Don't suppose you've heard of it.
[ Given the whole... armour... which is pretty cool if they didn't both happen to be kidnapped. Bucky in contrast, just looks flimsy compared to her in just his Commandos jacket, trousers, empty holster, and combat boots. ]
[She's not the horrifying fast badass she'll be when she's older. But, neither is he. Kuvira looks vaguely like she has ancestry in India.]
Sorry. I would guess you haven't heard of Zaofu, then. We aren't particularly structured, but I am Captain of the security force.
['And I would be of better use there', she's not saying. She's highly concerned and keeping stoic.]
...I thought this was the Spirit World, but it seems more normal than what I was expecting. [Yes, even with the wings. Or they could be dead. No, can't be.]
[ He inwardly grimaces at not knowing whether Zaofu is a place on Earth or not - sounds Chinese and he hasn't been to the Pacific or heard that much about it in a way of good stories. ]
It's another world or reality which works differently. The spirits there are some of them very powerful and capricious. Kidnapping people isn't unheard of. Typically though, they've done something first.
[She's got rank and status in Zaofu. If the spirits are upset she might have been the first to be taken? But they've had no signs of that.]
I would have heard of an army big enough for that kind of infantry. Zaofu is the most advanced city on Earth, and everyone knows about the spirits. I suppose there could be more than two worlds?
[ Doesn't sound too different from the Fair Folk, though he suppresses a grimace. Done things? He's done a lot of things, most of them unpleasant, none why a fairy or a spirit might be interested. The good Lord hasn't been listening, why should these beings do so? ]
S'pose there could be, or maybe this is a third party. Either way, it's nothin' I've heard of.
It could easily be something different. Spirits tend to go more extravagant, I think. No one's even said this is a prison, though as I understand it, we can't simply escape.
[ She's right of course, just because it's dressed up nice doesn't mean it's any easier to handle, but there's fresh food and space to move around - decent company too. Much better than the HYDRA work camps. He's got to stop thinking about the damn War now that he's not in it, and it's supposed to be over. ]
That we're workin' on. Mist outside seems t'be the biggest obstacle.
[Kuvira has to consciously work to keep what she should be doing, what she wants to do, from her mind.]
It's curiously impenetrable. My cables can't find any purchase, and I can't bend the ground out past this tree. It seems to continue though. A world exists past this mist.
[She can also sense whatever metal's on him. With the paucity of stone and metal in the tree, what there is stands out more.]
I'm an Earthbender.
[This doesn't seem to get the oh of course response she was expecting. Kuvira blinks, a crack in her cool persona. Other worlds, sure. Other worlds without bending? Maybe they're just worlds where it goes by different names.]
I... can manipulate the element of earth. It's something I'm attuned to, so I'm able to feel it from some distance.

Which regiment are you with?

No, unfortunately, Captain, I haven't.
[ He straightens, minutely. ]
Spirit World?
