Tables and chairs are set up everywhere along the walkway between the houses, allowing the new visitors to meet and greet - or try to hide in the corners and eat berries all by themselves. Try your new wings to be the first to grab those delicious crumbs of walnut bread? Or say hi to your party lights, courtesy of some excited glow worms and flies that just want to be your best friends. Explore how your new gem works, try put your leaf clothes or decide to head further into the tree, seeing just what kind of place your have stumbled into. Maybe you will even get a glimpse of those hairy legs on the fourth floor?

If we are small, and this isn't simply a tree to put redwoods to shame. Regardless, it doesn't appear there's a way to turn back.

Right now, anyway. Maybe if we could explore more of the tree we could get more answers. *Also if his wings worked better, exploration wouldn't be a problem. As far as he knows at this point.*

True! But there are hard limits to how far we can go, it seems. You've noticed a spiderweb a few floors up?

I haven't seen it yet but I've heard about it. We'd need to get something large enough to cut through it. If I was normal sized, I'd just use a sword and it'd be easy.

Something is moving up there past it, every now and then. Hard to see! [as a bird he doesn't see that well in the dark.] At a guess, it ought to be a giant spider.

So...definitely going to need something sharp. Or a giant rock. *To throw upward? Clearly a master plan.*

I guess we'll have to stick with the levels that are open and worry about the spider later on.

...Perhaps. I can see that ending poorly quite easily!

For now, sure. It's unhappy to think it's right there, though. I think people are supposed to live in the floor under it, able to look up at any moment!

I'm not sure looking up at a giant spider is going to make me feel any more comfortable about living here. Unless that's the point.

Haha, yes. I expect to find no one happy to take one of the 'houses' there. If it comes to that I would prefer to sleep outside. After all, spiders can discard their webs.
