Try your new wings to be the first to grab those delicious crumbs of walnut bread? Or say hi to your party lights, courtesy of some excited glow worms and flies that just want to be your best friends.
Explore how your new gem works, try put your leaf clothes or decide to head further into the tree, seeing just what kind of place your have stumbled into. Maybe you will even get a glimpse of those hairy legs on the fourth floor?
[ Most people would probably be at least a little bit taken aback by such rudeness from such a young girl, but not Videl. No, the mother of an overactive mixed-breed alien toddler with inhuman strength was not fazed Sara's attitude at all. ]
Is that any way to speak to people? [ Videl frowned at Sara, putting a hand on her hip. In the other hand, she balanced a plate heaped with more nuts and berries for her husband and his impossible appetite. ] What're you doing over here by all by yourself anyway?
[As with most questions about the way she acts toward people, Sara completely ignores that first question.]
Trying to be left alone? [Well, at least she's being honest about it, but she doesn't seem to realize that simply acting the same way as everyone else would make her less likely to be noticed.
The girl takes a bite from one of the berries she had picked up and grimaces a bit at its taste, which wasn't quite what she had been expecting—it wasn't as sweet as it had first looked. She swallows her food quickly in the hopes that that taste would go away.]
What're you doing? [Aside from, you know, leaving her not-alone.]
[ Now it was Videl's turn to ignore a question. She noticed Sara's unpleasant expression when the girl bit into one of the sour berries and lowered the tray of food she was holding to Sara's level. She sighed, her irritation fading a bit, replaced with mothering instincts. It's to be expected that a child all alone in some strange place with no explanation as to why would probably react aggressively to strangers. ]
Try the blue one there on the top. [ Videl's tone softened, and she nodded her head toward a fist-sized blue berry balanced atop the heap of food. ] It's so sweet, it almost tastes like candy.
[Even if she was still back home, Sara would still be generally unpleasant; among other things, she has problems trusting people, especially if those people are adults.
So, of course, she gives Videl a look at almost dares to ask are you serious, before caving in anyway, her growing hunger taking priority over most anything else. She picks that blue berry off the top and bites into it very, very cautiously, as if she's expecting the woman to be wrong and for the berry to be bitter or super-spicy or anything else that wasn't sweet, or even worse: totally bland.
There's a brief flash of relief in her expression when she finds that Videl was right, but that quickly gives way to something far more neutral. At least it's not the same failed attempt at intimidation as just moments ago, but it's obvious that she's still quite wary.]
Huh, so it does. [She takes another bite, not daring to try looking away.]
