Side quest interest?

So Hakuryuu has been working side quest(With Saber), and I was wondering who else would be interested in taking it on?
We know it involves using the blue dust and involves swimming.

So are there any other characters interested in swimming/getting drug along?

Does anyone have any ideas on when it should happen? Before/After the main quest?

Or anything anyone would like to add?

Sorry, I meant to do this so much sooner but life gave me a solid kick!

Fuu definitely wants to test it out too (and she and Kit have discussed testing it in the baths before trying it in the well, just to be on the safe side). As for when, after the main quest should be fine? Get things moving forward in time etc.

Hakuryuu probably would have tried in the river with the way his thinking works. (Baths are for bathing...though these are larger then the one's he's -maybe- used too.)

Late but yes, would like to have Kit involved with the testing and possibly the actual doing. She's small and agile and thus less likely to get stuck somewhere.

I'd love to bring Arj along, but if the water's cold, he'll refuse. The perils of having a temperature sensitive character...

(edit) I would like to see a thread for turning the sword upside down, though! Could be interesting to see what effect the blue stream has on characters, especially those that weren't around before.

They'd probably need more for the actual underwater bit vs the testing stage anyway? I'll make a note of it?

The sad thing is, if the water was warmer he'd be ideal, light powers are perfect for small dark spaces. But he'll quickly pass out. Come to think of it, do we know the water temperatur?

The water temperature is tepid at the moment, maybe on the side of colder. It's pretty well insulated.

Might be doable for him albeit with slow reaction times, then. I'll have to see how stupid driven to succeed he is after the main quest.

Mika isn't exactly a good team player (understatement) but he'll do pretty much anything if it means possibly getting home sooner.

Also, being a vampire he has excellent low-light vision. :|b

Hakuryuu's usually not either but when it comes to getting goals done well...

Low-light might be helpful under the tree though.

The drawback is that I doubt Mika really knows how to swim well, but on the other hand, with magic fairy dust involved and it being a small enough space where one would probably need to propel along the walls anyway, that might not matter as much. XD

That was part of this post too to find out how -could- swim, but with magic fairy dust getting dragged wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah, it's looking to me like the issue here is a balance between swimming ability, and ability to stay submerged in a cold, dark hole/tunnel for an extended period of time. We seem to be rather short on characters capable of both....

I didn't think about the cold, hmm, yeah that could be trouble.

Yeah I saw Arj mentioning it above, which made me think of the risk of it. XD I would ASSUME that a vampire would be immune to hypothermia since, y'know, you'd have to be properly ALIVE for that to be an issue, but it's something that might be a factor depending on who goes and how long they have to be underwater.

Yeah, ^ if the water's not cold it lowers the risk, some.

So from the looks of it, we have at least 2-3 characters who can either swim, or at least bungle their way along somehow who'd be willing to give it a go, so that's a good starting point? I'd say for an IC post, maybe time it just after the main quest, and just... have separate threads for each part (kind of like in the main quest post) and OOCly thread it out simultaneously, since it sounds like at least most of the discussion will be pretty predictable... :|a

Probably. So in essence a part for testing/talking, getting the rest of the dust, and then the actual underwater bit?

Yeah. Since we know what the dust does we can probably do the threads simultaneously, as little details like exactly who tested it and the process of getting the dust they need aren't super important to the actual exploration part, they just might be fun to thread out.
