Welcome to the Faerie Feast!
After your have gained your wings, you are met by a feast on the second floor with all that the forest can offer you. Tables and chairs are set up everywhere along the walkway between the houses, allowing the new visitors to meet and greet - or try to hide in the corners and eat berries all by themselves.
Try your new wings to be the first to grab those delicious crumbs of walnut bread? Or say hi to your party lights, courtesy of some excited glow worms and flies that just want to be your best friends.
Explore how your new gem works, try put your leaf clothes or decide to head further into the tree, seeing just what kind of place your have stumbled into. Maybe you will even get a glimpse of those hairy legs on the fourth floor?
[The soft flutter of another pair of wings behind her should warn Fuu that someone's approaching. Though Korra doesn't look at home with her new pair of wings--translucent, and a light shade of blue--she's managing to keep herself up in the air without too much struggle now. It's a small victory.]
Could be because we're way smaller than we used to be, too.
[It comes out as a grumble of sorts. Once she's actually beside Fuu, Korra crosses her arms over her chest, her green clothing making her match somewhat with their surroundings.]
Oh, they can. [This much she can explain, and it seems to make Korra feel better. Feeling useless is something she's gotten extremely tired of lately.]
If your spirit's in that world, they can change you pretty easily. I got turned into a kid once. [At least, she assumes that was the spirits...] If you're physically in the Spirit World, they'd have to possess you before they could change your body.
[She remembers what had happened to Yao and the hunters in Wan's memories all too well.]
That's why I don't think this is their doing. [Korra makes a gesture at her and Kuvira's wings.] You got these after you touched one of those stones down there, right?
[A grunt of effort, followed by the swish of a branch, is all the warning Maedhros gets before Korra lands beside him on his branch. With her green top and pants, she almost blends in among the leaves. Or she would, were it not for the delicate-looking light blue wings on her back.
She frowns down at the branch as she stumbles a little, unused to the extra pressure on her back, no matter how light they might be. Korra glances at him, realizing she's probably ended up in his personal space now.]
[His display is bound to be noticed by the people around him--like a certain green-clad girl beside him. Immediately, Korra drops the piece of bread she's holding, looking alarmed.]
What? Is there something wrong with it?
[Her light blue wings open and close restlessly, reflecting her overall mood.]
A kid? [This is... probably a Korra from the future? How far in the future? She would have thought just a few years, but if she reverted to being a child she could be old indeed.] It's alarming to think they have power like that. So far it seems that they've been peaceable in our world. I hope this isn't the start of a change.
[Well, Suyin will probably have something to say about spirits rearranging people like Huan rearranges sculptures, if that is what it is after all. Privately Kuvira thinks she's at least as good as her mentor though.]
[She can't help the way her wings flick as they are acknowledged.] Yes, I did. The lighter one. You think those weren't connected to spirits?
"No!" At least that was what he tried to say as his eyes narrowed...suspicious, wary, although it came out as more of an mmnoph. Hard to talk with his mouth full. The general effect was not unlike a slightly disgruntled chipmunk shoving in the walnuts. Again. "No. Crivens. You saw nothing, Wings. Nothing at all."
He said with candy in his hands and candy in his mouth.
Maybe. *Alundra covered his mouth in thought.* I just wonder how we all got here. There's no way all of us come from the same kingdom. *Especially the talking bird.* So why did we all change and get wings?
[This small child wouldn't be misplaced as a princess in his home country. Arno really couldn't tell if she was just delusional, or maybe she was the princess of a bug kingdom in her own place. Who even knew? Honestly, Arno didn't know which would be better. Maybe "misguided" would be far better than "crazy" as well.]
"Arno" was the name given to me by my parents, born as a walking human being. As in, no wings.
[She probably wasn't going to even care or listen, wasn't she?]
Glad to see someone has fit herself right at home.
[An encouragement! Just what she needs. It took her for awhile to find where or who's voice could that be. Once she noticed the brunette man, she gives a wide smile, showing that she's fine.]
[Okay, fine. A semi friendly conversation it was then. Arno wasn't going crazy yet, might as well be friendly to the locals. Maybe "forcibly" locals, but whatever.]
You've actually visited France? I doubt my France was your France.
[France is France, right??]
But if you must know, I was born and raised in Versailles but I did a fair amount of business in Paris.
[In all honesty, normally he would be wary about causing such a scene. But let's face it, this whole place swept underneath him and took him entirely by surprise.
Sure, he felt foolish. Especially since he tried to tell himself he was dreaming long before he tried the food, despite everything else that happened.
Oh, Korra. He was kind of sorry. Many people looked at him and were worried.]
No, not inherently.
[He actually then took another bite, finally giving in and eating the food around here. You know, so he wouldn't starve and alert the relatively calm populace.]
"Now, now, Mister Moth..." Agitha tsked him with one finger. "This banquet is for all of us here in the insect kingdom. It simply wouldn't be fair of you to take more than someone else! Don't you agree?"
Well of course! My mother was born there, and I think one of my father's parents may have, as well. I lived in the south for a few years, as a child. Still go back to visit Maman, sometimes.
[yeah they don't detail where much in canon plus I don't know much about the country.]
Very nice. And, no, perhaps not quite the same France! Please, indulge me - what is the year?
Hmm. I'm afraid I haven't had the benefit of such literature. Do these accounts offer any advice on what to do if one is abducted into their realm?
[She might as well be asking what the weather will be tomorrow for all the worry she's showing here.
And the name Zaofu... sounds vaguely Chinese, and this woman certainly looks like she's from that part of the world. Which brings more and stranger questions to mind and reminds Fuu of the thing she noticed before.]
Oh, pardon me. If it's not too impertinent, may I ask about your armor?
