SUPPLIES + GATHERING

Hello everyone! I was thinking we could have an ooc plot post about what our characters would want to do and organize some stuff!

1. Okay so, some characters want that food and some basic necessities items to be shared in community (bought or hunted or collected, anything goes!). If your character agrees, we can discuss how to arrange the food rations and how they'll be served (raw or cooked or whatever system you can propose). For example, one idea was to do a storeroom, but if this happens we need to decide how to create it, how long will it take, who can take turns to guard it, clean it, how to keep the food from spoiling, etc. Another idea is just split the food this time and have people figure out what to do with it (ask someone to cook it, trade it, etc). If you think of anything else or a combination of this, please say so. And everyone is welcome to cooperate with items to share among everyone and divide tasks. At the moment there's an egg and bacon to be split (the ideal would be splitting in equal measure but if your character dislikes one meal and prefers the other, they can always trade with another character? Maybe? Let's figure this out). So list:

a ) Raw Strip of Bacon
b ) Egg
c ) Squirrel Meat and Fur

On that note of dividing tasks and such...

2. Saber (and whoever knows of her plans and wants to help her pass the message) will be around at the food partition to speak about gathering together one day outside to decide a number of things to make the stay more harmonious for everyone. Topics from: jobs (who is good in healing/cooking/cleaning/sewing/singing songs of glory to the tree/etc), norms of coexistence and punishment for transgressions in case these happen (define crimes), security and defense against external threats (which is the most talked about in the amber network), supplies (food, clothes, etc), medicine/healthcare, housing, quests/tree research, and many more your characters could bring up. I just listed some of the topics. Some kind of variant of the Agora where everyone votes and proposes changes and consensus could be reached (or not)? It'll be also a good chance to snag shiny and brand CR! So if you like this idea, we can decide what day will take place, which spot, whatever goes, etc.

We can also handwave or log these two ideas, whatever you guys decide.

First of all, sorry for the confusion I caused earlier (for those who were involved). There was some miscommunication between players and I was coming into plans being made that involved my character that contradicted plot stuff I was striving towards.

That said, I wouldn't mind having Rin help out without having her be in charge of anything because I have other things I'd like for her to focus on.

What Rin can do is create storage items out of leaves/bark by reinforcing them to be tightly sealed as well as durable and acting as mini coolers provided people fill them with ice/line them with ice magic of any kind. She can leave these "coolers" (for a lack of a better term) in a designated public space for everyone to have. I inquired with mods about how they might work and they said they would need daily upkeep (through Rin, might be different for others so please clear it with them first), but they can definitely store perishable items. She'll pretty much be changing leaves into a completely different material so they won't rot away, but players who use these items should be careful about mold.

While Rin wouldn't publicly offer to freeze things for people as she wants to keep her magecraft mostly a secret, she can easily maintain any coolers that would be left in a storage space if no one else wanted that duty. I definitely prefer to pass it on OOCly to those who would like to be involved in this so just think of Rin as a private backup generator. I know there were 2-3 other people who wanted to be involved in this so gently slides it towards them instead.

My understanding of this is that Rin will handle the actual containers, and others with ice magic will handle the cooling of those containers. If that's correct, then I'll have Riona back on board with using her ice magic. It's also fine if she has to maintain it once a day or so, she will do that. But she doesn't want to be a guard so she won't be taking responsibility if the food is stolen or otherwise messed with!

Marisa isn't exactly the helping sort unless there is danger present. Then she gets all up in the face of said danger. That said, she is very open about her magic and if asked, she will help out - especially if it's a chance to show off.

Vala will absolutely be at the gathering! Not that she will have much to say unless people start butting heads over things. Once she gets her hooves feet on the ground, so to speak, she'll probably offer her services as a healer. She'd offer her full talents as a shaman: the full range of elemental spells, spiritual aspects and all of that. It would certainly require someone prodding her about it.

Well, Kit can cook some, and would be perfectly willing to do so, if people don't mind eating a few experiments til she gets used to working with local ingredients. She can also play music, that can serve both as simple entertainment or can temporarily hypnotize people/animals. (I should probly stick up a permissions post for her for that, among other things.) Plus she's always glad to lend a hand in gathering things.

She can also pick locks and is a capable pickpocket/burglar if those skills are ever needed.

What do you think we should do about the food supplies? The storeroom or something else?

Illya is personally the type who honestly like assisting others in any way she can. While normally she would keep her magecraft under wraps, it's kind of difficult for her to considering that it's really difficult to keep it under wraps with Ruby near her at all times. She'll definitely offer to guard any of the food from possible intruders (unless she's told otherwise, considering that she's a child) so if anybody else wants to help her out with that and take shifts, I'm pretty open in regards to that!

While she won't be using her magic unless it's important, she's willing to create any jewel-related materials if needed and will help out when people are in danger, since she is able to create physical and magical barriers along with using Class Cards to transform and protect others.

In regards to food: if the bacon and egg run out at any point, Illya is definitely willing to go hunting for food, whether it be for berries/fruit to possibly stray animals in the vicinity if necessary.

When do you think the gathering should take place? I want to arrange a date that doesn't contradict or mess with people's plans.

Hakuryuu can cook, Though he's unlikely to want to do much as a community. I don't know, he's kind of treating it all as an ends to a means. At the same time it's a chance to learn.

He can also manipulate plants that aren't the tree.( his limbs have been safe so I've kept to those mostly.)

Sadly a downside to Metal Vessels is the necessity of keeping said item on their person, if they want their powers to work. Which if any sort of communal cooking area is set up, could be kind of interesting.

As for a gather, he'd probably go at least once to see what it was, if for no other reason.

Which date is better for you ic-ly for the gathering?

As I’ve mentioned around the site, Orcelito is trying to create paper, ink (or dye), and writing instruments. He can’t so all by himself, but now that he is gathering help, he should be able to start producing enough materials to be shared in the future. (And if you want to participate in the development of this craft, come thread with me!)

So if anyone is in need of record-keeping, report-writing, transcripts/notes, etc. in the future, he’ll probably be able to contribute the needed supplies. He’s also a fantastic administrator and organizer. And he would like to apply his experience in ruling a country towards helping to build a safe community here in the Tree. So definitely interested in being involved in the Gathering event!

Oh man, Owain wants paper so badly. I don't know how much help he'd be, but he would certainly try.

Although, with a limited supply, first dibs should probably go to the people who won't just be using it for alphabetized lists of awesome weapon names and horrible doodles of heroes. :P

Chiming in to say that Riona will (eventually) be helping to make wooden pens if there is demand for it! They'll be pretty crude but tough and useable. Others are more than welcome to approach Orcelito about it, since at the moment she's just doing it for the two of them.

Oooh, Fuu would totally help him make inks and paper and things. SHE PROBABLY HAD one of those make-your-own-paper kiddie crafty kits at some point in her childhood so she'd totally help gather plant scraps for pulp and figure out what plants can be used for inks and things.

She totally wants to keep detailed notes on this place.

If he brings it up in the gathering, I'm sure others will help. Sadly Saber can't give him a hand on anything except maybe hunt for whatever raw material he needs.

Yeah, organization and administration aid would be great too.

EDIT: Oh do you have a suggestion about which one should be the gathering date?

There is also a whole lot of squirrel meat and fur. Owain will share. And he'll be quite happy to acquire more if the demand is there.

Aside from that, he's kind of awful at organizational stuff, but very good at fighting the forces of evil. If we want to set up any sort of watch or patrol system, he'd happily volunteer his services.

I am so late to this and I apologize for that!

both of my characters, Yuuki and Kija will be around and would love to help! Neither are very domestic (Yuuki more so than Kija) and so cooking and the like isn't their forte. Neither would be good with fires or supernatural abilities, either, outside of Kija's claw, and Yuuki's Hunter weapon which can harm the supernatural (but she herself isn't as advanced a fighter as so many others in game)

SO UH. Basically both would want to make a difference, but it might be odd end jobs or errands if people need stuff done? Which both are fine with.

I think everyone will be able to find their niche, there's no small job, and everything helps, including picking up and gathering food. That's also important. Or hunting.
